Abstract

The article examines the methodological features of subtitle and dubbing translation in the modern film industry as integral components of audiovisual translation. It analyzes the theoretical foundations of this type of translation activity, particularly the principles of equivalence, synchronization, and linguistic compression. Special attention is given to the rendering of cultural realia, humor, dialects, and the emotional coloring of the characters’ speech. The main translation strategies and techniques used in subtitling and dubbing are identified, and their advantages and limitations are outlined in terms of the viewer’s perception adequacy. Audiovisual translation is viewed as an interdisciplinary field that integrates linguistic, cultural, and technical aspects, ensuring effective intercultural communication in a globalized media environment.
